Firm History

Three attorneys departing from a law firm in Charlotte founded The McIntosh Law Firm on November 1, 1997. The Firm located its principal office to North Mecklenburg in late December of that same year. Maintaining a satellite office in Charlotte, the main office re-located to Davidson in October of 1998 and into their current offices at the historic Davidson Cotton Mill in November of 2000.

The Firm grew rapidly and now has eight (8) attorneys and over thirty (30) administrative and support staff. There have been several additions and departures from the Firm over its existence.

The three original attorneys were Robert G. “Bob” McIntosh, Christopher G. “Chris” Chagaris and Scott B. Spransy. Leah B. Trowbridge came with the Firm shortly after its location to North Mecklenburg and left a few years later to pursue her civic, charitable and family interests. Greg Hatcher joined the Firm about a year after its inception and left in 2002 to establish his own firm in Charlotte. Robert E. "Rob" Wick, III joined the firm in its Charlotte office in 1999 and later moved to the Davidson office where he remained until late 2006. Scott Spransy, who had departed a few years before Hatcher’s departure, joined in Hatcher’s new firm. Chagaris departed in 2002 to pursue a solo practice. Jaime A. Kosofsky left his solo practice to join the Firm and later departed to pursue a Charlotte-based real estate practice.

James D. “Berto” Concepcion came with the Firm in 1999 and left in 2004 to assist another attorney who had been activated by the National Guard and sent to Iraq. Prosser D. “Sandy” Carnegie, a Davidson native and attorney with over twenty-five (25) years of practice experience, joined the Firm in 2000 after a brief time in a corporate position and remains today as a part of the Firm’s litigation team and real estate practice. Amanda L. “Amy” Shue returned to the Firm in 2001 after working as a paralegal with McIntosh prior to her attending law school and remains today as the wills, trust and estate administration arm of the Firm’s practice.

In January of 2002 Jennifer S. Ahlers and William L. “Bill” Ellison joined the Firm. Ahlers remains actively pursuing her collections and subrogation practice and Ellison became a shareholder in the Firm with McIntosh in January of 2005 and remains pursuing his collection, bankruptcy and claim and delivery practice. James C. “Jim” Fuller, a former NC Court of Appeals judge and very experienced trial lawyer, with over 30 years of trial experience, joined the Firm in September of 2004 and makes up the balance of the litigation team with Carnegie, adding a great deal of depth and experience to the Firm. Beth Carter is the newest attorney and concentrates her practice in consumer bankruptcy and real estate cases.
