March 2020 Hometown Hero

mark hometown heroKay and Ruby Houston are Davidson natives. The sisters have contributed to the people in Davidson their entire lives. They can always be found volunteering and helping others.

Kay began her community service at a very young age. She has a passion for helping others who are experiencing difficult life events. Kay is also a strong supporter of our community first responders, providing meals and baked goods to them regularly. She is also an advocate for educating residents on their duty to vote. If you vote at Town Hall, you have undoubtedly seen Kay's smiling face working the polls and thanking you for voting

Ruby was a founding member of Davidson's Concerts on the Green GospelFest. She inspires many with her zealous advocacy for children through her work with CMS and the Ada Jenkins Center. Ruby has also been a champion on improving race relations and economic upward mobility through her work with North Mecklenburg Economic Mobility Collaborative. Both women are members of the Davidson Presbyterian Church. When the annual Church BBQ comes around you will find them at the top of the ticket sales count! If you know either of these two special people, you will indeed end up buying a ticket for the BBQ

Please join us in congratulating Kay and Ruby Houston for their commitment to making our community a wonderful place to live, work, and play for everyone!

The McIntosh Law Firm has made a donation to the Davidson Fire Department in their honor.
